You could ask a teacher to ensure you know in future what is halal and what isn't - perhaps your teacher could check with the school kitchen?
Or you could ask your parents to check with the catering manager at your school. The school has a duty to give you the correct information about your food - why do you think it might not have been halal?

@ racey pacey: If his school say that they provide halal meat then this boy has a right to know what he can and can't eat at school. Don't start picking on a child because of your own beliefs about halal meat.

I understand that at school you probably want a hot meal so if they really do not cater for you then maybe your school and parents could arrange that you bring some food in and ask a teacher to reheat it in the microwave in the staffroom then give it to you to take to the dining hall or something.

Though the dinner lady would probably be in trouble if she misled you.

I am amazed -! !
you know how to type and do not know your rules of halal - ? ?
do you go to a muslim school - ? ? is the dinner lady a muslim - ?
even this heathen knows "If your in doubt - pass it up "

ASK you parents

It is cheaper to kill all meat in Halal tradition rather than have TWO separate butcheries at the Abbatoir.
Strangely , it was on TV last week.
Then the arguments were about having to eat Halal meat.
You can't win!!!!!!!!!!

check the schools website and see if they have information on the food served for religious I can understand why how your meat was prepared but it should not physically hurt you if once you ate something that was not prepared to religious specifications

You have fulfilled your obligation. You asked. You were told that it was.
So even if it was not you are totally innocent. For you it was halal.

Don't they teach religion in your community?

Do you think she knew what halal food is? She might have said yes unknowingly, so you need to make sure that it's really halal before you eat it.

I presume you want Halal meat?
If so it will be on your school record. If you have doubts ask your parents to speak to the school and see if your rights are been taking serious.

Religion or not - you are in an English school - eat what's provided or take a packed lunch of your own choosing.

You could ask other people in the dining room.

They shouldn't claim it to be halal if it isn't.
