I'd argue you just haven't had good Mexican food yet...
And no, Taco Bell doesn't count. That's like calling Pizza Hut "Italian" or that order of General's Tso's Chicken "Chinese."
It's not it's delicious and if you are Syrian you should like it's middle eastern influences.
Grilled meats (lamb, beef, chicken), cumin, tomato salads ( salsas) and flat breads.
Because you go to nasty places to eat Mexican.
