Mayonnaise, cream cheese, crab salad and sushi? That sounds like the original style cream cheese uramaki (insude-out) roll.

Take a look at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/user/cookingwithd… Follow their instructions on california roll but use the following ingredients:

1) Kanikama aka imitation crab stick. Buy the original short, more expensive sushi grade kanikama. The difference in price will give you a better taste and a slightly different texture; it is worth it.
2) Cream cheese.
3) Toasted sesame seeds - generous is good.
4) Cucumber - shredded.
5) Japanese style mayonnaise. Kewpie is probably the most popular choice.
6) Avocados - Optional. You don't need to use as much cream cheese if avocados are used.
7) Masago - seasoned caviar. Optional but recommended. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/…
8) Japanese pickled ginger aka gari - Shredded. Optional but recommended.

Additional instructions:
1) Press down on imitation crab sticks and roll back and forth slightly to break up the imitation crab sticks a little. Don't over do it.
2) Put 1/2 of the pressed imitation crab stick in the middle when you lay out your ingredients. Squirt a thin line of Japanese style mayo on top of the imitation crab. Put the other 1/2 of imitation crab stick on top of the mayo. Kanikama and mayo will mix themselves when you roll your sushi. Don't be too generous on the mayo or you'll make a greasy mess.
3) If you choose to use masago, add them to your mayo.

If you use avocado, the finished product will look something similar to this http://www.shizensushi.com/image/cooked/… except the kanikama portion will look like this: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/184/46919…
If you don't use avocado, the cream cheese and kanikama ratio is about 1/2 and 1/2.

Have fun. :)
