Sure---if you have a mixer,this is a great icing.
2 stick butter(not margarine)
1 cup sugar
put the butter and sugar in mixer bowl and beat until it's like whipped cream(may take 10-15 min)
While that whips ,cook and whisk 1 cup milk and 4 tablespoons flour to make a paste.(cool this mixture thoroughly)
Add the paste mixture to the butter sugar mixture a tablespoon at a time continuing to beat. Then add a teaspoon of vanilla. This is great on all cakes and cupcakes. It is like whipped cream when finished but doesn't "melt" like whipped cream.

cool whip and confectioners sugar, cream cheese

WHITE FROSTING

5 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening

Cook flour and milk until thick. Put in a bowl and add sugar, salt and vanilla. Beat well and add butter and shortening. Beat until fluffy.

Easy! My grandma's recipe (which I use every Xmas for decorating cookies):

1 stick softened butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 large bag confectioner's (powdered) sugar
add cream/half n half/milk (any of these) to desired consistency
Start with a couple tablespoons of cream and mix with an elelctric mixer, adding more cream slowly as you mix.
YUMMMY!!
