What's the difference between Vermicelli & Spaghetti?!

Question: What's the difference between Vermicelli & Spaghetti?
Answers:

vermicelli are not flat, the flat ones are called linguine. the difference is in the gauge of the pasta. the thinnest being angel hair (capelli d'angeli) followed by vermicelli, thin spaghetti(spaghettini) spaghetti and the lesser seen spaghettoni.

I agree with the previous poster... vermicelli is a round thin dried pasta, and spaghetti is a slightly larger round dried pasta (though in the U.S., the dish comprised of round dried noodles and either meat or marinara sauce is often referred to as "spaghetti").

There are *many* shapes that dried pasta comes in (in addition to long round ones), but they're all made from wheat flour:

There are also dried noodles made from rice flour in the Far East though which are also called "vermicelli" or "rice vermicelli" that you'll find in Vietnamese dishes, etc.

In cross section ..
Vermicelli is flat (like ribbons)
Spaghetti is round (like string)

True. Also, vermicelli is made with rice while spaghetti is made with wheat flour.
