What noodle should i use?!

Question:

What noodle should i use?

i make a pasta salad with cucumber ranch dressing, shrimp, crabmeat, onion, green pepper, tomatoes and cucumbers. but i used to use thin spaghetti noodles. i want to try a different noodle, any suggestions for one that can hold and carry the flavor of the cucumber ranch dressing?

Answers:
Actually I think bow tie pasta would be good with what you discribed. It is wide and flat and should have the dressing well. Also any past tube with a ribbed outside. The ribs help to hold the dressing as well. I would avoid smooth unless it is wide like the bow tie.

Elbow would be good.

Try Rice Noodles. They're good with veggies and sea foods.

you could try bow tie noodles they are fun and creatvie!
or a shell noodle!

Fusilli, Cavatappi, or Radiatore would be nice shapes and maybe different than you usually have. See what they look like here (at the bottom of the page in the little chart): http://bronze.ucok.edu/passport/italy/fu...

I was going to reccomend rice noodles too. Chineese chow mein noodles or Lo Mein noodles might be good. Lo Mein are really thick square noodles, kind of interesting to see. Chow mein are fried noodles and they would provide an interesting texture.

Rotini would work nicely, maybe try the tri-colored Rotini.

In my opinion the best pasta for pasta salad is penne. Sounds delish!

Good Luck!

Bow tie or Raditore would probably work the best. The best way to make sure that the dressing holds on to the pasta is to cook it Al Dente then instead of running under water, toss it with a little oil than put it in you refrigerator spread out on a baking sheet. It takes a little longer to cool so take that into account when cooking the pasta. Cooling the pasta this way does not rinse away the starches that help sauces stick to pasta.

Use Orecchiette.

The shape of the pasta is like a little bowl, perfect for holding your dressing and other items in your salad

the twisty ones that come in different colors

I strongly suggest you use rotini noodles. They would absorb the dressing and enhance the flovor of the salad
