Is this Italian dish very "American"?!

Question: Is this Italian dish very "American"?
For example, have you ever seen this in a restaurant in the US? Have you ever eaten this while living in the states?

Lemon and Fennel Marinated Vegetables

Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 medium carrots, diagonally sliced 1/2 inch thick
- 1 cup small whole fresh mushrooms
- 1 small red or green bell pepper, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

PREPARATION:

- Bring water to a boil in small saucepan over high heat. Add carrots; return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer about 5 minutes or until carrots are crisp-tender. Drain and cool.
- Place carrots, mushrooms and bell pepper in large resealable food storage bag. Combine lemon juice, oil, sugar, garlic, fennel seeds, basil and black pepper in small bowl. Pour over vegetables. Close bag securely; turn to coat. Marinate in refrigerator 8 to 24 hours, turning occasionally.
- Drain vegetables; discard marinade. Place vegetables in serving dish.

Answers:

I've not only seen similar dishes in the US, but the entire recipe seems to be verbatim from one on TLC cooking: http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/lemon-a… (which is American, by the way.)

It might seem more Italian with fresh basil.

Fennel has become a trendy ingredient in the last few years, so while it used to be less common, now it's popping up in salads, roasted veggie dishes, and --believe it or not-- even cocktails.

American - ? ? ? what- ? the conglomeration of every ethnic race
now that you posted the recipe I am sure Someone In America will try it
and being a vegetarian dish - it might catch on

but seeing the recipe - I do this in the crock pot for years - decades (except for the fennel - I would add sunflower seeds)

I have never seen this in the US and frankly it does not sound very American to me. The only thing which smacks of Americana, it the plastic bag trick.
