Have you eaten any exotic food?!

Question:

Have you eaten any exotic food?

how exotic was it, and what is it?

Answers:
Depends on what you consider exotic.
I've had all different kinds of produce, from all over the world. Lychees, oyster root, carmabola, choyote, all kinds of things. I have been asked more than once what something was when I was checking out of the grocery.
We eat most seafood. Everything from clams to mussels to octopus and squid and crawfish and most other things that live in the water. Catfish, and most other fresh water fish were pretty common on our table when I was growing up.
I have eaten a lot of different kinds of birds-domestic and wild. My dad hunts quail and pheasant every year so I grew up eating those. I've eaten deer meat/venison when I could get it. I wish I could get it more often.
I have cooked most kinds of domestically raised birds, duck, chicken, turkey, cornish game hens, you name it, I've probably cooked it.
I like lots of different kinds of ethnic foods. There are things I love that are Italian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, AMerican, Philipino, Spanish, Mexican, German,Indian, French, and the list goes on. I believe in trying new things. My kids are learning that too. Things we think of as exotic are only exotic because we didn't grow up with them.
One of the kids favorite treats is Pokki, a japanese sweet..comes in different varieties... my daughter asked for perogis and sausages for her birthday meal a couple of years ago. She was turning 4 at the time. My family's favorite dish that we make at home is crawfish monica. It's a cajun thing.
It's all good. Trying new things is good. It's what makes traveling an adventure.

Like Thai Food.. that was pretty exotic & spicy

I've been to Thailand and have eaten from the Rice shacks, they make really good food, and I've eaten raw squid here in Hawaii, along with Poi. I don't know if one would consider Poi to be exotic since it's pretty much a staple part of the Natives here diets.

I've eaten my share of exotic food! In most Australian cities, a person can choose to eat from a different international cuisine every day. Thai, Korean, Indian, Moroccan, Spanish - almost anything. You can get kangaroo steaks, emu etc. as well.

My everyday food would be exotic for you. I am an Indian and we have the most fabulous cuisines, not to forget the most exotic fruit mango.

Oreos, which come from the other side of the Pacific Ocean. They look and taste just like the local version which has been on the market as long as I can remember.

1) Balot/Balut -- they're duck eggs with half-matured chicks inside. Everything inside the shell is edible as long as the egg was matured right. [Even the chick.]
2) Dinuguan -- Pig's blood. It's not red anymore once they serve it to you. It's sort of blackish, but it tastes like heaven. It's the best soup I've ever tasted but few restaurants get it right. I'd go for Razon's, Gua Gua.
3) Frog's legs -- tastes like chicken, really.
4) Chicken Feet -- tastes the best with beer. I'm a minor, sadly.

Wild boar - we were up in some mountain. THE MOST tastiest pork!

Dog, yes you read it right. I didn't even know it was dog. Tasted like pork.

Python - Yup, tastes like chicken.

am from africa n i just have never known how exotic food can get. i love food just because it makes me no to feel hungry. food is for eating my friend. especially when you are the one cooking then you find nothing so exotic in any food.

I ate horse in Romania, it was tasty [surprised when I found out what it was!]

ive had kangaroo- which is real nice and emu- not too bad either

a had a taco once.

Shark, Snake,........
They taste good.

I went to Mexico City and ate Escamoles....

It's an indigenous Mexican indian dish of ....

Ant Larvae.

See photo link below.

Was pretty tasty, kinda like rice crispies.

i ate alligator bites

I've had chicken from tobego and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if it was really chicken (: haha.
And I had a mango recently, not too exotic, but very delecious!

Ive eaten deer, alligator, and bear .is that exotic?

I've eaten nearly every kind of fruit I could get my hands on, many of which I can't remember the names of. I've had domesticated buffalo (not much flavor there). In Jamaica, I had curried goat, ackee and saltfish, and bammy. I love fish, and I've eaten all kinds, but I've never had the opportunity to try fugu.

I've had raw oysters, venison, quail, game hen, wild turkey, duck, gator, snake, sweetbreads (only a tiny bite - I try to stay away from organ meats), and fresh pork cracklins.

It all depends on what you consider exotic food, I grew up in the Caribbean and what you would consider exotic, it was all regular food to me.
I have tried different foods from different countries.
I have tried almost every type of bird, once it can be cooked and eaten , I've probably tried it.
Chicken feet are really good stewed or curried and even better in soups.
Pig tails, pig snout, almost every part of the pig.
Blood pudding is especially good. Mix the pig blood with all type of season and fill up the intestine, tie and then boil, looks like sausage but taste great.
Iquana Meat taste like chicken. Goat meat, frog legs.
