Yes one & the same ,thick dark syrupy stuff it is a by-product of sugar manufacture.The term used depends on the country,in India where our sugar is manufactured from sugar cane juice we call it molasses,I haven't heard any one use the term treacle,but i know in many other places it is referred to as treacle.
