Presenting MOULI (ASIAN RADISH) as a vegetable. Any ideas?!

Question:

Presenting MOULI (ASIAN RADISH) as a vegetable. Any ideas?

Wasn't even sure if this was used as a vegetable at first as seems to be used more in salads. Then came across someone serving it braised but no detail given. Seems pretty bland on its own. What can I do with it to give it life?

Mouli can be prepared in many ways, usually grated & sprinkled with salt, the excess water is squeezed out by hand & then it can be used as a filling for stuffed parathas, added to beaten yogurt with or without other additives like green chillie & cilantro chopped. Can also be pickled in vinegar along with whole mustard for flavour, cooked as a vegetable served with fresh grated coconut,a non-veg variation is to cook it with dry shrimps.

sprinkle a little salt and garam masala on it when making salad, you can also make mouli parathas.

You can chop Mouli and make Mouli Sambar...it has a very distinct and unique flavour.
But, it wins hands down, in paranthas and salad...
Enjoy.

Try spelling it correctly Mooli Radish (Diakon). You'll find dozens of recipes. In Korea they make a soup that is quite delicious.

It is known as white radish.

For stir fried vegetable of white radish take

2 white radish finely chopped or grated
1 tbs veg. oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1-2 green chilies finely chopped
salt to taste

In a hot wok add oil and heat till is very hot
add cumin seeds and mustard seeds (It should start to crackle - if not stir fry till it does so)
add green chilies
add radish and stir fry for two minutes
add turmeric powder and continue to stir. Season with salt.
Once you have mixed the crackle well into the vegetable, spread the vegetable around the side of the wok. Water will collect at the centre of the wok. Dry this water on slow fire. Bring the radish togather once the water dries and stir further for minute or two. Serve hot with chapati or paratha.
Great for cleaning out stomach.

coleslaw
3 tbsp Olive oil
1 carrot, finely grated
75g mouli (white radish), finely grated
1 handful bean sprouts
6 lime leaves, finely shredded
1 bird's eye chilli, finely chopped
1 clove Garlic, chopped
1 splash Fish Sauce
1 lime, juice and zest
15g Wasabi

put the oil into a wok and fry all the ingredients except the wasabi paste for three to four minutes. Stir in the wasabi paste.

Chinese people use it as part of a stew with chunks of beef. Its great.
