Type of rice for onigiri?!

Question: Type of rice for onigiri?
If I want to use sushi rice, I have to hitch a ride to drive an hour away, to pick up a small bag for nearly 8 dollars. (And for a 16 year old without a job, you can probably understand why that isn't ideal.)

What kind of rice can I use for onigiri, and maybe even rice burgers?
I have a typical/smallish Walmart, and the 'oriental' isle consists of 3 shelves made up of soy sauce and pocky- so, you can see my problem.

-Basic, easy to find rice types?
(Oh, and if you know the brand name, that would help a lot!)

Answers:

Look for short grained rice. This should be a suitable substitute and you can find it in most supermarkets.
Make sure you prepare it Japanese style though: http://www.justhungry.com/2003/11/japane…

You can find info on making onigiri here: http://www.justhungry.com/2003/12/obento…

Sushi rice is made with white short grain Japanese rice, which has a consistency that differs from long-grain rice. The essential quality is its stickiness or glutinousness. This rice is mixed with a dressing of rice vinegar, sugar, salt and occasionally kombu and sake. Sushi rice or Japanese rice can be hard to find. Most supermarkets usually stock white short grain rice, which is a good substitute for Japanese rice. We usually use Japanese rice or white short grain rice at home and flavour it with furikake to make onigiri.
