Question for ex-coffee addicts?!

Question:

Question for ex-coffee addicts?

How did you wean yourself off coffee? I need to cut back, I'll drink a whole pot by myself in the first couple hours of the day. Has anyone been addicted to coffee and overcame it? Any suggestions?

Answers:
It's good to wean yourself off because it can give you KILLER headaches if you stop completely. Oi...nothing would touch those headaches. I would drink one coffee and a couple cups of water. and if I felt like I still really needed the second cup- Not a huge mug full- then I would pour it. It's good to get the small coffee cups, not those huge friendly mugs. =) Once I was done with the frist cup, then the two cups of water, I normally didn't want more fluids. Watch out- you'll pee alot with a combo of coffee and water! It helped me to drink my water out of the coffee cups too, it's more of a habit thing for me. Now I'm good with coffee every now and then.

You can do it! Good luck! I found that excedrine helped with the headaches the most...I think it's because it has caffeine in them! LOL =)

Myself =)

I was addicted to coffee and I had to stop because it was giving me heartburn. I stopped cold turkey and was REALLY tired for a few days but then I was fine. Now I drink it every now and then and it doesn't bother me at all. I found eating a good breakfast and staying active keeps me much more awake during the day then coffee

I quit cold turkey (where did that phrase come from anyway?) and switched to sparkling water. Because I also quit drinking soda at the same time. So I think my brain thought "Fizzy, must have caffeine!" I still have a cup or two every now and then, but wooo, the buzz! Whereas in the past I'd drink a pot of coffee and wonder if I should make another...
