Can I put a cake in the fridge for a week?!

Question:

Can I put a cake in the fridge for a week?

I am going to make a cake for my son's birthday party on the 1st. I've never done one like this before so I was going to pratice and make one this week. If it turns out good will it keep in the fridge until the first? Here is the cake I'm gonna try to make: http://www.instructables.com/id/eg5ponqe...

Answers:
Most cakes will last a week in the fridge easily unless they are desserts, such as souffles, which are delicate. It will still taste good and be perfectly edible after a week but it won't be as delicate and crumbly, it will be denser.

freeze it with out icing...pull out the night before unwrap so it does not collect moisture

that's more like 2 weeks and it will probably get soggy and start to lose flavor after a week

something like that i wouldn't make more than a few days ahead

if it has a lid it should be ok

What a great cake and what a challenge! I would freeze the cake if possible until the day before. It might be OK in the fridge but it might also get stale. Good Luck and Happy Birthday to a very lucky boy!!!!!!

Wow! That is great. You can freeze a cake and it will do very well. The fridge may not be as good as the freezer.

Good luck!

freeze it with or without icing. My mom does it all the time and you can't tell the difference.

As long as you put it in a sealed container with a lid, or put it in Reynolds wrap shrink wrap so that it doesn't loose it's freshness or moistness. And make sure you put it where no one is going to touch it or accidentally put something on top of it and ruin it. How devastating would that be?
Just keep it covered.
I take home extra cake from parties and such all the time and it always lasts as long as it is kept with some cellophane over top or in a container.
Good luck Hun!

just keep it covered tightly
