If you're lacto-ovo vegetarian and you get enough variety in your diet with plenty of fruits and veggies, there is no need for vitamins and you certainly will have no protein worries. Most people in America eat far too much protein. The reccomended servings of dairy alone will give you most of your protein for the day. Fake meats are not good to eat on a daily basis, more of an occasional treat when you're craving a burger. Learn to cook with tofu and beans.

well there is pills and medicine

my vegetarian co-worker takes a HAND FULL of all kinds of vitamins every day.

You could eat Tofu, Egg and Nuts instead of meat. For vitamins just eat more fruit and vegetables.

eat fruits vegetables and grains.

-Tofu
-Eggs
-Nuts
-Protein Bars
-Protein Powder, shakes
-Milk
-Cheese
-Peanut Butter
-Pills found at vitamin shoppes

Many companies such as Boca and Morningstar farms offer products that include soy protein. I've been a vegetarian for about a year now and I haven't had any problems yet. Also, eat beans and nuts. Even if it's some sunflower seeds on a salad or chick peas (hummus is good, too). You might find that you eat a little more because your body is calibrating to not having the extreme amount of protein and other things in meat. Don't worry, that's normal. After a while, your body will decide whether it likes that kind of intake or if it is happy with less. Weight fluctuations may insue. Again, normal. If you start feeling ill or like you are going to pass out, etc. go to the doctor. They can prescribe vitamins for you if needed and refer you to a nutritionist. I find that whole wheat or enriched bread keeps me up on my vitamins. If you aren't planning on going vegan, you'll find that cheese is your best friend. Good luck!
