Hi, what's the difference between white meat and dark meat chicken?!

Question:

Hi, what's the difference between white meat and dark meat chicken?

When I order chicken, I always say dark meat for some reason, but I have NO CLUE what the difference is. I mean is there a taste difference or what?

Answers:
dark meat is the muscles that get used a lot (legs, thighs, wings)

white meat is the muscles that DON'T get used a lot (breast, back)

white meat is dryer (but I think 'better' for you)

the thigh is moister the white is dryer but i perfer the white the dark is always moister

Dark meat has a higher quantity of fat and more moisture (ie legs, thighs). White meat has less fat and less moisture (ie breasts).

I personally prefer dark meat, legs and thighs. White meat, the breast, is a dryer meat . I think dark meat has more flavor. If cooked properly white meat can be good. Chicken strips are usually cut from the breast of chicken, I cook these at home and they are great as well

The white meat of poultry, is usuallly the breasts and wings, the dark meat is usually the thighs and legs.

I think the brown meat taste more juicy and flavorful, that's just in my opinion. The dark meat has more fat but it has more minerals like iron, however white meat has more protein. It is much easier to overcook white meat, but when it is very tender, it taste almost as good as brown meat to me.

wings, legs, and thighs are brown meat.

breast is white meat
