When making a smoothie do you have to remove the pith from oranges?!

Question:

When making a smoothie do you have to remove the pith from oranges?

if yes whats the best way
also do you have to remove pips from fruit

Answers:
Peel the orange, yes, but you don't have to remove every bit of the pith... adds more fiber! And you don't have to worry about it adding bitterness... if you're putting it in a smoothie you won't really be able to taste it... with other fruit, yogurt or whatever you're putting your smoothie, the pith will just blend in nicely. So don't waste your time scraping away every little bit of it... just peel as you normally would...

As for pips... I would remove them from things like apples, pears, oranges, etc... but seeds such as in melons (canteloupe, honeydew, seedless watermelon, etc) are fine... You don't want anything going "crunch" in your SMOOTHie!

Best of luck!

It is best or you will have pips in your smoothie, no easy way just with a knife.

why not natural orange juice? to avoid all the work, as long as is natural, no sugar, it is the same.

Yeap you do. Otherwise it'll turn relly bitter tasting.

yes unfortunately you do have to remove the pith. its more time consuming but worth it .yum yum

"Yes" to both questions. The pith can be very bitter, as can the pips, and you don't want that in a smoothie. As to removing the pith, the only way I know is the tedious job of peeling it away - but someone may have a trick of the trade.

I would or else it might start taking root in your stomach. lol

I always take the pith. Cos I'm thtupid.
