Mainly lamb curries.

Yes and no. Please remember that India is large continent with very different people in each geographical area. Not eating beef is based upon religion so Hindus and Sikhs will not, whereas Christians, Muslims (halal) and Jews (kosher) will eat beef. Tandoori Cooking Expert has free video tutorial recipes: For example, something you may not have heard of is lamb liver (kaleeja) curry:

Indians do not eat "curry", since it is a British invention created during the Raj, basically a misinterpretation (and mispronunciation) of one of (many) ingredients frequently used in some Indian dishes, the "Kari leaf". Indian dishes are usually just called what they actually ARE, in Hindi or the various regional languages..

In any case, a majority of Indian are Hindu, and hold the cow to be a deity, and one generally does not make a meal out of one's gods.....unless you are a Roman Catholic who believes that whole "Transubstantiation" thing

That depends on their religion. Hindus don't eat beef. Muslims don't eat pork. I often make beef curry for my non-muslim Turtkish friends because, if they grew up in Turkey, some of them are unacquainted with the taste of pork and you can't alway serve chicken!

Hi adam i'm an INDIAN (Christian catholic)
i love eating BBQ Beef or fried one with beer .but most indians especially hindus and sikhs dont eat.but hindus from south india (some)especially malayalies eat beef.

it's illegal to kill cows in many states of india. It was a more serious offence to kill a cow than to kill a human (so says wikipedia)
