Paul Newmans' brand is good.....

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, use theirs. Otherwise, avoid the best-known brands like Ragu.

Now, if there are NO Italians in your family, you can actually get away with using Ragu. But if your family is like mine, you don't want to even try that. Go for as many jars of a premium brand you NEVER see commercials for on TV as you need for the amount of pasta you're serving.

Going forward, it's usually a good idea to anticipate situations like this weeks ahead of the get-together and make the sauce from scratch as soon as you know you're going to need it. Then freeze it until 2 days before, thaw for a day, gently re-heat and refrigerate until the moment you need to heat it the final time before serving

I really dislike most jar brands. I find bertolli too sweet. Ragu also adds a lot of sugar. My favorite is Paul Newman Sockarooni. But to mimmick a fresh homemade flavor I usually add two pureed tomatoes to the pan and boil them down before adding the sauce.

Also imperative for my family is fresh ground and fried red and green chiles. If you can't get that use red chili flakes early in cooking and add extra salt at the very end of cooking.

Considering the time and cost you need to to heat up a large number of bought-in pasta sauce, I kinda think making pasta sauce in a large pot is better...especially if it is tomato-based.

Rao's. Great flavor, not too sweet, not too tangy. It's pricier, but worth it.

domnio have your domnio day

I would go with Del Monte or Bertolli sauces.

Experience.

I personally like Prego or Bertolli, both of those taste really good

Try Muir Glen. Never been disappointed.

Ragu`! But you know, nothing beats homemade.
