Is it true that Chinese food is healthy?!

Question: Is it true that Chinese food is healthy?
Answers:

Chinese food is healthy however the stuff that we get in Chinese restaurants here is NOT the same stuff Chinese people traditionally eat at home. The stuff we get with the syrupy sauces and sweet meats is more like the stuff they would have at special holidays.

I have eaten traditional Chinese food aboard Chinese ships prepared by Chinese cooks and compared to our food here it is very very bland. Now I'm not saying that it's not good but they don't use the kinds of spices and tons of salt that we do.

If I were brought up my whole life on that kind of cuisine I couldn't even eat the kind of Chinese food we enjoy here. The taste attack would be overwhelming.

To sum up... Traditional Chinese is healthy North American Chinese is not.

Hi: It depends on how you prepare it. Stir fried vegetables and meats in a non-stick pan with a small amount of oil can be very healthy. Have your meat and veggies cut into small pieces or shredded, heat oil. Add meat first and cook until half done then add the veggies. Toss in some soy sauce and / or oyster sause with a bit of water and cornstarch to thicken. Take off heat and serve over rice. Can season with a bit sesame oil before serving to get a good chinese taste.

Veggies can be such things as: Shredded cabbage, matchstick cut carrots, green onions - sliced, fresh mushrooms sliced, green, yellow or red peppers, Chinese black mushrooms, soaked and cut. Tofu, mild chile peppers (if you like hot) Broccoli florets, green peas or pea pods. Fresh ginger grated.

No cuisine is any more or less healthy than another. It's not the cuisine - it's what you actually order, and of course how much you actually eat.

Steamed vegetables are healthy...but douse it in soy sauce, as many Chinese people do, and it's not quite so healthy any more, is it?

Depends on how its cooked.
It if has alot of oils, and its fried, or deep friend then no
Us asians eat alot of soups and veggies with not that much oil, so look for stuff like that then chinese food will be healthy.
