What should I make for my boyfriend's birthday?!

Question:

What should I make for my boyfriend's birthday?

My boyfriend isn't at all picky, and doesn't care what I make him. I don't usually cook, I pretty much hate it. It is the first time we will be celebrating his birthday together, and I have noooo idea what to do. I can't even think of his favorite food because he likes everything. Any ideas?

Hamburger Pie
Makes 4 Servings

Menu Gameplan:
Step 1: make the hamburger pie
Step 2: heat the garlic bread
Step 3: assemble the mixed green salad
Step 4: serve

Here's How to Make It in 20 Minutes:

Before You Start:

Place the broiler rack 4 inches from the heat and preheat the broiler.

Step 1: make the hamburger pie

1/2 cup chopped onion (1 small onion)
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 pound ground chuck (85% lean)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, or more to taste
1 cup canned chopped tomatoes with basil, drained
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup combined pre-shredded mozzarella with grated Parmesan and Romano cheeses

1. Chop the onion to measure 1/2 cup.
2. In a large ovenproof skillet, with a heatproof handle, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add the onion and cook, stirring, just until softened. Add the meat and salt and pepper, and cook, breaking up the pieces with the side of the spoon, until no longer pink. If necessary, pour off any excess liquid from the skillet. Stir in the mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
3. Drain the tomatoes. Spread the tomatoes over the meat mixture in the skillet and sprinkle with the oregano. Scatter the cheese evenly over the top. Run the skillet under the broiler and broil for 3 to 4 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Step 2: heat the garlic bread

1 ready-to-heat garlic bread

In a toaster oven, heat the bread according to the directions on the package.

Step 3: assemble the mixed green salad

1 bag (5 ounces) prewashed mixed spring or baby greens
1/4 cup Italian salad dressing

Place the greens in a salad bowl. Add the dressing and toss. Place the bowl on the table.

Step 4: serve

1. Serve the hamburger pie directly from the skillet.
2. Place the garlic bread in a bread basket and place on the table.
3. When ready for dessert, scoop the ice cream into bowls and serve with the birthday cake

All men love steaks :o)
Buffalo Steaks with Grilled Mushroom and Garlic Gravy

Buffalo is a wonderfully flavorful, lower-fat alternative to beef. Searing these steaks directly over a hot fire keeps them tender and moist.

For the steaks:

4 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons peanut oil
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika

4 buffalo strip steaks, about 10 ounces each

For the gravy:

2 portobello mushrooms, about 3 ounces each
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
2 tablespoons minced onion
6 to 8 cloves garlic, minced
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup red wine
1-1/2 cups brown gravy

To make the steaks: Combine all ingredients except steaks. Rub on both sides of the steaks, cover, and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours.

Meanwhile, prepare the gravy: Rub the portobello mushrooms with 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, lemon-pepper seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Grill the mushroom for 8-10 minutes over direct medium heat. Remove from grill, cut into small dice, and set aside.

Sauté the minced onion and garlic in the remaining 2 tablespoons of the oil for 1 to 2 minutes; add the wine and reduce until wine is gone. Add the brown gravy and reserved mushroom. Stir to blend; simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

For gas grills, increase heat to High. Grill steaks over Direct High heat for 8 to 12 minutes, turning once halfway through grilling time, or until desired doneness.

Makes 4 servings.

Ok... want to know how to make the best chicken in the world and it's so simple??
The night before you BBQ:
Buy some chicken drumstick and thighs (not the boneless kind) and boil them in a pot till they are almost fully cooked.
Take the chicken out and put into a large container. Put your favorite chicken marinade or BBQ suace all over the chicken.
Cover the container and let it sit over night in your fridge.
When you want to BBQ just take the chicken out and put it onto the grill. The grill will heat up the chicken and give it that BBQ flavor.
Because you boiled the chicken the night before and reheated it on the grill, all the juices of the chicken stay inside the meat and the meat it's self comes right off the bone and is very tender and juicy.
Enjoy!

Since you don't cook much, Meatloaf is a very easy dish to make, plus most men love it because it has such a "homey" aroma and taste......what Mom hasn't made meatloaf for their children, I ask? :-D

What I did one year is before you pop it in the oven, make it into the shape of a heart.....simple and sweet.

Most guys love meat. Steak is always good, but splurge and get a really nice Filet Mignon. Melt some Bourson cheese and drizzle over it. Twiced baked potato on the side and a great salad. And a really good bottle of red wine -- maybe a Zinfandel.

For my husbands last birthday, I marinated some Ribeye's and grilled them along with some shrimp. They were deelish! I use McCormick Grillmates Peppercorn & Garlic marinade for the steaks. He is not big on veggies, so we started with a simple salad. I also made some mashed potatoes and added garlic & parmesan. They were fabulous.

I am sure he will love anything you decide to make, it's the thought that counts!

Baked Trout.
Remove head and tail and make two or three slices to the bone in each side.
Sprinkle with salt and some lemon juice. Place on, a bed of lemon slices, from the lemons you have squeezed for the juice, on a piece of tinfoil.
Fold into a parcel and bake at 170C for about 15-20 minutes
