I often eat 12-18, my wife will often eat 12. But I'm much happier to have only 6 pieces if my meal includes salad and soup.
When we go out for sushi, we might only order a couple of rolls and the rest is regular sushi - raw and maybe some eel.
The rolls are usually house specialties and not California rolls.

I eat about 3 to 4 pieces out of 1 roll.
