I have recently gone pescatarian and i need to know i have made a good choice by doing this.

Answers:
I became a vegetarian at age 16. Around the time I turned 27 or so I decided to add fish back into my diet. I am now 31 and have been eating fish ever since (still can't stand shrimp, mussels, oysters, clams, etc.... I basically only eat salmon, tilapia, small amounts of tuna and crab). It wasn't an easy decision. I think I spent most of my 26th year of life trying to decide if it was the right thing to do or not. I was very conflicted. I felt a whole mix of emotions and I didn't even dare mentioning my thoughts to my husband about wanting to start eating fish again. I waited until I was pretty sure I was going to go through with it before I mentioned it to him and he was very supportive and understanding. He helped me talk through my feelings about it and he listened without judgement ...just so that I had someone to bounce my ideas and thoughts off of. I just somehow needed to figure out if it was "okay" to try it. I needed to know that I shouldn't feel ashamed or weak or something for wanting to loosen my grip on my vegetarianism. Being a vegetarian was something I had grown to become very proud of... It was a huge part of my life. And a part of me felt like I was just giving up.... like I was failing or something after all those years. It was a very weird time...

And then I finally just decided that ....Eating fish again was what I wanted to do. Period. There was no "failing" to it. I was putting an END to one chapter of my life... And beginning another. Plain and simple. Just as I did the day I decided to not eat meat some 11 years prior. And so I decided to let any guilt or shame or second-guessing GO and just be free to start exploring the next chapter in my life.

And it's been great.

As long as you aren't eating fish n' chips every day.... Including seafood/fish in your diet is overall a healthy choice. But no one can tell you if you've made a "good choice" by going "pescatarian". It really is a very personal decision. And your situation will vary from anyone else so you can't really go by what others have to say about it. Were you previously a vegetarian or vegan? Or are you a meat-eater that has decided to give up all meat but fish? Either way, only you can decide what is right for yourself. How do you feel? Are YOU comfortable with your decision? If so, that's great. Put an end to your self-doubt and move on.... Enjoy all that eating fish/seafood has to offer. If you're not comfortable with your decision.... Then it's not too late to turn back.

Best of luck to you!

It's a safe bet. Vegetarianism is great, but you have to eat right and take suppliments. Fish is a great source of protein and other vitamins.

Why do you need the opinion of others to tell you if what you are doing is right? Do you feel that it is the right choice? If so than no one is going to be able to convince you otherwise(or they shouldn't be)

Cutting out meat is the right direction. You will lessen your risk of heart disease, cancers, etc. Just be sure you are replacing the protien, vitamins, minerals, iron, etc. with other alternatives. A well balanced, healthy diet does not need to be supplimented with any vitamins, etc.

A pescetarian is not any type of vegetarian and no vegetarian eats fish. Only you can decide if it's a good choice.
