Anyone have a good list of vegan options in restaurants?!
Anyone have a good list of vegan options in restaurants?
I've ran across a couple, but they are missing stuff or aren't reliable..
I'm also curious about vegan options at Norms..
I checked the menu.. looks like nothing is vegan..

I'm looking at the menu for Norms right now. What does their chef's salad include? I'm sure you can ask them to leave certain ingredients out or substitute ingrediets so it will be vegan. As far as I know, italian dressing is vegan. Spaghetti Marinara is vegan if the Marinara sauce is not made with chicken stock (some tomato based sauces are made from tomato juice instead of stock). If the spaghetti is actual pasta and not noodles, it's vegan because it's not made with eggs like noddles are. You just have to ask them before you order.
I'm sure for the portabella mushroom chicken sandwich, you could probably ask them to leave out the chicken and just add more mushroom. Portabella mushrooms are meaty to begin with, so it would make a great sandwich. Most restaurants will allow you to customize your order.
There's plenty of italian restaurants that offer good pasta dishes that don't contain any animal products. If you go to a japanese restaurant, you could order sushi that just contains veggies and they're still very tasty. There's plenty of places you can eat. You just have to look at the menus carefully and don't be afraid to ask your server to customize things for you.
I forgot to add, you could easily find something to eat at Souplantation since they have a full salad bar, pasta dishes, baked goods, and soups (dunno if any of the soups are vegan but you could ask).

I'm a nutrition major and this past semester I took a culinary arts class and a nutrition class (obviously) and I studied about vegans in nutrition and we've catered for vegans and vegetarians in my culinary arts class before, so I get ideas on foods you guys could eat.
Vegans are nut-balls!
Well, I don't have a list, but you could always go to a veggie restaurant. If you're at just a regular restaurant, ask the waitress whats in it, you can also always order it without certain things like cheese, yogurts etc.
I don't have a list either. I don't even eat out at all.
but salad, pasta would be on the safe side.
If I was one, I would ask when I was going to book a table and insist on getting a good answer.
lets go lick a tree
A lot of Asian resteraunts are Vegetarian and have a multitude of Vegan food alternatives - from Kormas using coconut milk to the hotter end of the scale - and they'll usually be happy to listen to your requirements and understand what a Vegan is. I have heard some horror stories from "regular" resteraunts i.e. one place locally to me where the chef uses chicken stock in tomato soup but thinks it doesn't matter if he serves it to a Vegan or Vegetarian!!!!!!!!!! Your local Vegan Society may have a list of safe resteraunts.
er, i'm pretty sure 99 percent of resturants are not vegan friendly
