Man made chemically processed. For example, an apple is not processed. But applesauce sold in little plastic containers with added chemicals and sugar is.



A food that's been changed from its normal fresh state (except for just cleaning it or cutting it up, etc).

Processing can run from cooking then canning a food, to adding and/or removing all kinds of parts then usually packaging it. But when people talk about "processed foods" they're usually talking about highly-processed foods, which usually come out of the process unhealthier than they were in the beginning.



Freezing or canning foods are processed products



A food that was made in a factory that wasn't handled by humans.



Hot dogs ;)
