What is the difference between cardamom and elaichi ?!

What is the difference between cardamom and elaichi ?

Are these same ?

No difference...
Cardamom is the english word for the same spice as Elaichi is the hindi for...

They are the same but in Hindi and Urdu, cardamon is called elaichi.

There are many Cardamom, other two answers are correct.

I know three of them.

1. Whitish yellow, small all most round (ball like in shape), it is most aromatic. They have dark black kernel inside the pods.

2. Green comes in large or small variety. They may have brownish or black kernels inside the pods.

3. Black, it comes in large and small variety is very strong tasting and has black kernels inside the pods. In Hindi and Gujarati this one is called Black Elaicha.

Elaichi and Elaicha are generic names for cardamom (generic English), insome of the Indian language.

Cardamom is English, while the Elaichi is the hindi version of te same.
