My husband wants to know about jersey royal new potatoes?!

Question:

My husband wants to know about jersey royal new potatoes?

He wants to know why they dont taste like they used to! He keeps buying them and is then really disapointed and it drives me nuts!

Is there a reason for the change in taste or is it just an age thing (with my husband I mean)

Answers:
Jersey Royal potatoes
Jersey Royal potatoes are Jersey's local variety of new potato.

History
In 1878 a Jersey farmer called Hugh de la Haye purchased two enormous potatoes displayed on the counter in a local store. That evening he invited some friends for supper and after the meal he showed them the two huge potatoes he had bought, one of them with 15 "eyes" (from which new plants sprout). Hugh and his friends cut this potato into sixteen pieces which they planted in a c?til, a steeply-sloping field, above Bellozanne valley. The following spring the crop was large and early, and though most of it and the parent potatoes were round, one plant solely produced kidney-shaped potatoes, which came to be known as the Jersey Royal Fluke.

Firstly - are those really Jersey Royal potatoes that he buys?
Secondly - as we get older, our sense of taste is reduced.

Hope this helps! =)

How annoying. I do love my Jersey Royals. You husband seems a bit picky. I think the taste of them has got better over the years - when was he born, the 50's?! Pft.
