Question: I have a school project and I need to know how do people dry out peppers and stuff for the spices you buy.?
For example I went to the store, and saw the spice called garlic spice. I know it's garlic but what did they do to make it like a dry powder, for people to spice up their food. not just garlic, in general how do you make anything a spice, like pepper, lemon. I have seen all these things and I need to know how they make them like that. I hope that makes sense.

you can buy dehydraters but i didnt like mine

i air dry herbs (usually hanging in small rolled bunches)
i oven dry garlic & onions
i hang lemon/orange & lime slices in a warm place
and tomatoes & peppers i do in a long low oven (those i put in olive oil)

the herbs, garlic & onions i then grind in a mortar & pestle
again i could use a food processor but i enjoy hands on

In olden times they would lay them out in the sun to dry and then grind them into powder. Not it is done with electric dehydrators. We have one at home we use to dry the peppers and herbs we grow.

Well i Would Test It Out Then Write On It Then Do it again For Class
