What do you do with old vegetable oil?!

Question:

What do you do with old vegetable oil?

I live in California if that matters. I know pouring down the drain is bad but can I just throw it in the garbage? If I put it on the curb in a milk jug will they take it?

Answers:
We're in CA too. We just put ours in a container if it's liquid and toss it in the trash. If it solidifies, then just scrape it into the trash.

put it in a container, put it in the fridge to harden it up, then throw it out.

Pouring oil down the drain is only bad if it's hydrogenated. Vegetable oil is non hydrogenated(it stays in a liquid form at room temperature) so you can pour it down the drain. You're just not supposed to pour animal fat down the drain, because it solidifies at room temperature.

I'd re-use it. But if you're not wanting to do that. Just pour it into a bottle with a screw om top and throw t away like you would do anything else. You know the garbage men aren't searching through trash to see who threw their cooking oil in there. Hope this helps.
