What foods last longest when you are low on cash?!

Question:

What foods last longest when you are low on cash?

Answers:
rice
pasta
lentils/pulses
potatoes

Dry/canned and frozen foods last the longest by far. Fresh food is more expensive and doesn't last as long. However, living on only dry and canned foods may not provide proper nutrients. Try to include frozen fruits and vegetables to get proper nutrition. You can also stock up on meats when they are on sale and freeze them.

Canned foods, such as soups last a long time. Pasta will last a long time uncooked, as will frozen meals.

Ramen noodles are the best budget food. Not the best FOR YOU, of course. Fish sticks are also a great deal.

rice, pasta, chicken, fresh vegetables daily

peanut butter and jelly, cheese slices (for homemade grilled cheese sandwiches), bread (of course), salad in a bag (ususally lasts for about a week), economy bagged cereals, apples. Try to get some good foods in your diet. Raisins, apples and bagged salad mix are good cheap products.

rice, pasta
dry beans / peas
frozen veggies
fresh carrots and cabbage
apples
ham (not deli sliced, a hunk of one)
any hot cereals (grits, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, Malt O Meal, etc.)

The foods that give you the biggest bang for the buck so to speak is unfortunately starches. Pastas and rices are very inexpensive and keep forever.

you can make a big pot of spaghetti or a chicken stew with veggies or chicken & noodles they are good and will last awhile ,we lived like this for months when my son was young as his dad was killed and we were really short on money and food,., good luck always,.,.,

Ramen noodles, sandwiches, frozen dinners.

Rice and beans - you can get about two weeks worth for $10.

Oatmeal, not instant, but quick oats from your bulk food section.

You can get some really good buys on vegetables at farm stands or farmer's markets.
Good luck!

definettly potatoes!!

When I was a graduate student, rice was the primary food in my diet. A 10-lb bag cost $8, and I was able to add a variety of different things to keep it interesting--beans, tomato sauce, fresh or frozen vegetables (when I had the money), etc.

Rice, season it and mix with veggies, chicken
Ramen soup
Potatoes
Peanut butter sandwiches
Canned food on sale, veggies, fruit, soups
Eggs
Mac n cheese
Saltines

Not the healthiest, but will help you on a budget

Spaghetti
Rice
