Good Luck!!!

First of all, every roaster is different. Espresso is generally a very dark roast. There are your typical bitter flavors and also dessert espresso.

Batdorf & Bronson (batdorf.com) is based in Washington and has several decent espresso blends from all over the world. Also, there is Intelligencia which I think is based in Chicago. Their beans have a very distinctive taste that I do not care for, but others love it.

Figuring out what espresso is best really depends on you sampling different ones. Also, no matter how high of quality your espresso, it can still taste bad if brewed improperly.

Yes I use two different kinds my husbands family drinks, they are from Cuba and espresso is their drink of choice. I use Bustello or La Llave which you can find at certain Hispanic food stores. You may be able to find them online but I would try to find them at a Hispanic food store first. They taste deliscious!

La Llave is my favorite but when I can't find that one we use Bustello.
