How would you handle this situation?!

Question:

How would you handle this situation?

you usually cook great, people are looking forward to your dish because they have heard such great things about you AND than the dish you bring turns out to be your "not so best" and no one comments on it. usually people say your food is good, but this time you get 0 comments. how do you handle it??

Answers:
I would say, this dish usually turnsout much better, I'm not sure what happened, they will then probably say, no it was really good, or don't say anything and don't worry about it

I wouldn't say a word. They may be tired of flattering you, or tired of hearing you say "yes, I know." ;-) Just keep doing what you're doing... everyone's entitled to a flop now and then.

And don't try new recipes on guests!

I would ask people what they honestly thought about the dish. I would want them to tell me what they didn't like about it so I could correct it the next time.

this happens to me sometimes! you just have to make it extra special next time.

handle it professionally. everyone has dishes that show off their "not so good side". so what? that's the process of becoming a good chef. ask them to give comments on how it could improve so you could do it better next time.

ask for honesty.....and if people dont want to be honest with you then tell them that it is hurting you more than helping you, as far as your cooking, and if anyone had any suggestions or things that could be improved....you would appreciate it.....

You just go with the flow..
They know you are a good cook already..
I would probably ignore the no comments .. and invite back the same bunch some other time and just dazzle them with your cooking..
They are bound to comment on that one and then you can add yours by saying last time I was in such a rush etc.. I forgot ingredients or whatever.. and you are sure to get a laugh or two..
Or you can say nothing at all about the last meal..
Just let them rave about this one!!
We all have our off days..nomatter what we are good at.. some days we just suck at it.. Don't worry..

I only cook for myself, mostly. I got tired of hearing people say, "Does this have salt in it; I can't eat anything with that in it. I can't eat anything with dairy products in it. I'm on a diet and can't eat that. Oh, I don't like fried food. I'm a vegetarian......... Do you have any.......??
Forget you people!! So, now I cook what I like and how I like it, you're welcome to sit down and eat what I put on the table. Now, if you don't like it, go down to "Mon sour Patou's French Restaurant" where you'll pay an outrageous price for an ounce of this and that and still be hungry when you leave the restaurant.
That stoped the whining and complaints. [I am a very good cook and have the reputation for it].
