It is called the "El Grito" or the cry. The most famous is El Grito de Lares which was the cry for Mexican Independence from Spain on September 16, 1810 led by Padre Hidalgo. Each year when the "Dies y Seis" comes about, Mexicans gather at midnight to let out an "El Grito"
