How many times can you boil tapwater safely?!

Question:

How many times can you boil tapwater safely?

I've heard that if you boil regular tap water more than once it becomes unhealthy. Is there any legitimacy in this?

Answers:
No. At least the water doesn't become unhealthy. However, if you have minerals such as lime in your water then it may settle on the bottom of the pot after boiling, forming an undesirable white cloudy visible sediment since it is no longer dissloved into the water. This may be the source of what you heard.

No. I suppose if you condensed the steam from the boiling you would have distilled, but thats just like drinking stale water.

It doesn't become unhealthy, but it does wind up tasting flat which might explain why people say so.

If you boil water for drinking you need to aerate it afterwards. The easiest way to do this is to pour it back and forth from glass to glass a few times to get some air back into it. After doing this your water will taste better.
