Help, it's my boyfriend's birthday tomorrow and i burnt his cake...?!

Question:

Help, it's my boyfriend's birthday tomorrow and i burnt his cake...?

I was baking a cake for my boyfriend's birthday. He doesn't like icing sugar so I made him a fruitcake. While it was in the oven, my mom asked me to bake her a cake and i kinda forgot about the first one. Now the cake is burnt especially on top. Is there any desert I could make using the cake where i could cut off the burnt bits or it wouldn't matter about the extremely caramelized taste?

Ps. I am dead broke now and can't buy one from a shop at such short notice

wow, those are good ideas. I can easily make custard and I can leave out the fruit since there's some in the cake. Thanks a lot guys.

my mom's cake is a simple sponge cake and mine had rum and brandy in it. i soaked the fruit in it for over a week. I doubt i could live with giving him a sponge cake when I know it could have been better...

Serve it with ice cream and either a lemon sauce, a caramel sauce. You could make a trifle with it too. Layer pieces of cake with a custard (or a vanilla puddind) and maybe pieces of fruit. Top with whipped cream.

Ask your mom if you could use the cake you baked for her..

If he loves you, he will like it even burnt.

Turn up wearing lacy lingerie and carrying the burnt cake.

I guarantee he wont notice the cake.

Oh dear

slice off the top
cut the good bits into attractive chunks
put a candle in each chunk
arrange on a plate
hope that helps!

Cut off the burnt parts. From the block that remains, cut brownie-sized pieces. Brush with melted chocolate, put a piece of dried fruit (like a banana slice) on each of them.

Then, after he has eaten and enjoyed them, share the story and I guarantee he's going to laugh about it with you. These things happen, and the important thing is that you cared enough to make the cake in the first place and cared even more so you tried to put it right.

If you have some ice cream in the house; you could take the unburnt pieces and make pretty slices with Ice Cream in between ( Like Sandwiches).

Or break the cake up and put it with whipped cream like a parfait.

Happy B-Day to the bf and Good Luck =)

your pie... he will like that better anyway
