Are bananas still good when the outside is brown?!

Question:

Are bananas still good when the outside is brown?

Answers:
The browner the outside, the sweeter the banana. When they get very brown though, the texture changes and they become very mushy, at that point they are best used for banana bread or muffins. Unless the insides start to actually liquify, the bananas are good to eat.

nope=)

i dont think so

as long as the inside's un-mushy

slightly singed brown is okay but if it's moderatly brown I would say no.

Yes. They're just really smooshy.

At this point, they're really good for making banana bread although I don't have any recipes for that.

for banana bread

of course, well, not when they are completely brown and squishy. but when they get brown they taste sweeter.

Only good for milkshakes and banana bread.

no way ........they are mushy and everything

No. Only if they're the tiniest bit brown. If it is brown all over, throw it away. Don't take any chances.

depends, u need to peel then u know.

Good for banana bread and pudding.

no, I don't like it but you might :)

Yeah, They r much tastier!

depends on how brown

If there is small patches of brown its okay. But if the banana is completly covered in brown its rotten. Brown patched bananas taste so much sweeter though.

yes they r , they r just softer but there is absolutely nothing wrong with them.
Mash them up and add some peanut butter and spread it on some toast. YUMMO

the brown are sweet spots. If you like it sweet go for it. If it is completly covered in brown (no spots) its rotten.

Nothing wrong with it except personal taste. Too mushy for me, but it won't hurt you. Time for banana bread when they get black and mushy!

They are fine as long as the are not really old bananas,

inside they will be soft ans very sweet good to use to make banana fritters!!!

Yes, they are. The brown only means the sugars are seeping out and into the peel. It's not rotten though.

yes

depends how brown.if they are not that much they are OK.In fact then they are most sweet.

use them for banana bread

no, thats fine to eat, it just means that it might be a little softer than a regular yellow banana, but it will also be sweeter!
~princess~

bananas can be eaten brown, they just don't look appealing.they do not harm u

Brownish or black, you mean? They taste twice sweeter and that's basically the reason why they're used for banana bread or banana cake. I believe they're still ok when they turn that color already ('cause if they weren't they shouldn't have been used, not to mention preferred, as the major banana cake ingredient). It's just that they taste different from how we usually like our bananas...

Good for banana nut bread ,but not for anything else I can think of

If the banana just has spots or is starting to turn brown, it's okay to eat. Totally brown bananas are very soft and mush. When they turn black, thrown them in the trash.

You can freeze over ripe (not rotten) bananas by removing the skin and dark spots on the fruit. Put them in a freezer bag and use them to make banana muffins or cake.
