Can i use buttermilk after its use-by date?!

Question:

Can i use buttermilk after its use-by date?

i've got a tub of buttermilk at the back of my fridge 10 days past its use-by - is it destined for the bin or can i cook with it?

Answers:
With the culture they use to sour the product, like yougart especially natural not the kind with binders it is good for a while, and if your cooking with it do not worry.

I was a chef in Canada for years, and there were times that you would get a product and not use it for a while, expiry dates are a tricky thing, it can mean the product is not to served or is BEST by that date, and then it can start to breakdown or spoil, todays dairy products especially in the UK and Canada are very carefully pasturized and handled, so go ahead, but if there is any doubt, bin it.

Smell and taste a bit and you'll know. It's already partially fermented when you get it. Keep it cold. I had it blow up on be in a batch of ranch dressing in a restaurant. Heck of a mess.

no...ewww

as long as it's not chunky and it doesn't smell bad!
