What kind of foods are alright to eat in the summer?!

Question:

What kind of foods are alright to eat in the summer?

I have to buy my own food but lately i'm not doing such a good job of buying food thats alright to cook during the summer months when you shouldn't use an oven in your house.Does anybody have any ideas of things i could buy or make for meals that won't make the house hot and also won't make me sick?

Answers:
Any kind of pasta, vegetables, fruits. I can make a big potato, macaroni or pasta salad that will stretch for a few days which helps the "not cooking" when it's soooo hot, I just change up the meats like hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, etc..I also keep lots of vegetables in the fridge that I can use for salads or just for dipping, like celery sticks, baby carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. When I bring home fruits and melons, I usually cube them and keep them in bowls in the fridge to snack on whenever I want something sweet.

foodie ny has some good ideas! plus, i also use the grill and the broiler a lot in the summer...chicken, fish, ribs, almost anything...all faster that way! i also make a lot of salads - i make them more filling by adding boiled eggs, avocado, diced, grilled chicken or salmon. Pasta is a favorite of ming - pretty quick and painless on the stove top, and almost anything can be thrown together with cooked pasta!

fruits, salads, bbqs ,and cool drinks

peach, banana, orange, grapes.

I tend to cook and eat lighter foods in the summer like cold salads and grilled foods. I try to avoid anything that has to be cooked in the oven. The idea of eating a meal like turkey and mashed potatoes just turns me off.
