HELP!!! Can i substitute butter for oil in a carrot cake recipe?!

Question:

HELP!!! Can i substitute butter for oil in a carrot cake recipe?

I am in the middle of making a carrot cake and my husband just used all of the oil to make chicken wings. Can butter be a substitute for oil in a cake recipe?

Answers:
Yes it can. But you have to increase the other liquids in your recipe to make up for the amount of oil you aren't putting in. Butter is a semi-solid, so add about one quarter more liquid than teh recipe calls for.

Yes I have done it before, and it turns out just almost the same.

The oil is what gives it that texture but butter will work ok too.!

Hope this helps ya!

no it has a diffent texture and i wouldnt advise it because of a lot of things to do with baking you have to be pretty exact when following a recipe for cakes, it might not be distaturous but wouldnt be as good without the oil i am a patiserie chef

yes, you can substitute butter with any fat ie oils marg etc. Take care with the oil you pick though as some have quite a strong flavor. something quite neutral like veg or sunflower oil is probably your best bet. And don't waste your money on "healthier oil"s as they loose their benefits when you cook them.
