Vegetarian?!

Question:

Vegetarian?

I'm strongly against animal abuse, and I am thinking of becoming a vegetarian. The only problem is that I still live with my mom, and she always cooks meat. She says if I become a vegetarian, I will have to cook my own meals. She also doesn't approve of the idea, because she says I need a balanced diet.
Any suggestions for what I can do about this?
I'm still not sure about becoming a vegetarian, so is there anyone that can give me more information about all of this?

Answers:
When I became a vegetarian, I didn't know how to cook... at all...
But when I became a vegetarian, I had to realize that with the rest of the people around me eating meat... I can't just expect them to start cooking me vegetarian foods... so I learned how to cook.
So I was in pretty much the same situation>my mom didn't agree with my decision either<

ok first of all if you eat animals you're not abusing them, because they are already dead. second people been eating meat forever i mean i dont like it people torcher animals but i dont think there is anything wrong with eating them as long as you kill the animal with no suffering.

Vegetarian food is easy to cook! You could get all the nutrients that meat provides through other places! There are many organic shops around; just look for them. Most vegetarians eat vegetables (hence the name 'vegetarian'), so you could steam veggies and season them with great-tasting herbs! It's not that hard. There are also vegetarian substitutes for meat. There are vegetarian fish, beef, shrimp, etc. They don't taste exactly like meat, but that's not what the cooks are aiming for. They taste great! Especially the vegetarian ham! Try it one day!

You can always eat out...

Search Yahoo Answers. A lot of teenagers in similar situations have asked this question and you can find some good answers and suggestions.

I used to cook for vegetarian. They are 3 types of vegetarians. (1, can eat dairy, egg, nuts and veggies. ) (2, can only eat dairy, nuts and vieggies,) (3,vegan which means no milk, no eggs, no any animal products). Before you make your decision. You have to realise that, your life will be changed, it is not just eat veggies. you have to be careful every thing you eat out side. people may use animal fat to fry chips, may use butter on you sandwish. However it is also depend on how strict you are going to be.

you can easily buy vegetarian meals frozen or refrigerated, and all you have to do is microwave or stick them in the oven for a few minutes to have a great and healthy meal.
