Why does drinking beer, wine and hard liquuor generally cause illness ?!

Question:

Why does drinking beer, wine and hard liquuor generally cause illness ?

Is it the mixing of drinks chemically, or just inexperience and volume?

Answers:
None of the aforementioned are accurate. Here's the truth:
Mixing all of these things is a combination of factors. There are many different ingredients in each (too many to get into here without putting everyone to sleep, too late? haha) but that is one of the main factors. You shouldn't mix light with dark alcohols. That goes for white wine with red wine, scotch with vodka or dark beer and light beer as a general rule.
Take it a step further and you shouldn't start crossing alcohol types (i.e. beer with wine or hard liquor with wine etc.) because the body is having to digest, process, absorb and the liver "funnel" it all in many different ways.
In moderation a subtle mixture of any of these isn't too bad it's later in the night after the "paint mixer" shaking of alcohols on the dance floor results in barfing either that night or the next morning (ok maybe afternoon depending on when your eyes open, haha).
Think of it this way since it's the path most 21 year olds have traveled (and I did this too and sometimes still do at the ripe old age of 38!!) the notorious Long Island Ice Tea!!

Long Islands have 5 to 6 different liquors in them (depending on the bartender and the variety) and drinking JUST those all night doesn't cause a "Mixing" problem that makes you vomit right? (unless of course you've had too many of them, but that's true no matter what the drink) so mixing is not the problem, it's cross pollunating in excess that causes the problems and sickness.
So have a glass of champagne for the toast, a beer while you wait and then pick a constant "category" for the rest of the night and you'll be fine.
Just don't do 3 "slams" of each category for hours alternating back and forth.
You wouldn't go out to eat Sushi First, then Pepper Ground Steak with a Cajun Spiced Pasta side dish ending with a Grand Marnier Souffle with Brandy sauce and a glass of Port then a spicey mint to wash it all down would you?
Treat the drinks with the same philosophy and you'll be fine.
Take it from a 20 year veteran.

They only cause illness to people who over-indulge... beer, wine and liquor in moderation actually can be beneficial to health...

dehydration! lack of electolytes equal big *** headache!!
pedialyte or gatorade help.. stay hydrated and u'll be fine ;)

Inexperience and volume, when you try to drink em down fast and mix beer, wine and liquors together, watch out for Ralph!

mix enough chemicals and you'll get dynamite! know some basic rules, stick to one type of drink that night, snacks while drinking helps, peanuts and such. but ..im ripped rite now any way!!! whew
