Is it safe to eat plants that grow in the wild?!

Question:

Is it safe to eat plants that grow in the wild?

Is it safe to eat a plant called fireweed? I eat it sometimes at work. Its not poisonus or anything, but I was wondering if it is safe to eat.

Answers:
It is safe to eat many plants in the wild, if you know for certain what they are. If you've been eating fireweed, and not gotten sick, then its probably okay. I have eaten fireweed honey before, and it is delicious! If fireweed tastes anything like its honey, then you are very lucky to be eating it.

google it?? i google everything

there are plenty of web sites and books telling you which ones to eat don't be eating weeds you don't know about

Get all the information you can on the plant in question before ever thinking of eating it ,when you are sure you have identified it correctly & it has passed as a safe bet, then only should you go ahead. Often it takes an expert for correct identification of a given plant species.
