HELP, me rice is bubbling and I don't know what to do?!

Question: HELP, me rice is bubbling and I don't know what to do?
I tried to be exotic for me kids so I tried to make some rice but it's gone all bubbly. It looks like an ethnic farting at the local pools

Gawd! You are a wonderful mum. That does sound exotic. Turn the stove off, put a lid on it and let it sit for 10 minutes (have a drink while you're waiting). Then fluff it up with a fork and serve with a pie on the side.

There are a couple methods for cooking rice. It sounds like you tried the steam method (perhaps following the instructions on the packaging)? If you really followed the instructions correctly, then don't worry too much--turn the heat down, keep it covered (or crack the lid just a tad to keep it from flowing over) and continue to cook until the water is evaporated. Then let sit for 10 mins or so before serving.

A simpler method: cook like pasta. Boil lots of water, add rice. When tender, drain.

OK, you are a great mom for doing it, but I've got a better idea for you in the future. Just buy an inexpensive electric rice cooker from a reputable store for the future. It will be easy to use. You will ad your rice, 1 cup rice with 2 cups of water. Put the lid on and let it cook. It will bubble a little, and steam, but all in all will come out great.

The advantage is you will learn to adjust your water as some water is harder than other in different parts of the world. I generally do about 1 cup of rice to 2 1/2 cups of water, or actually about 4 cups of rice to 10 cups of water. I make larger amounts, then keep the left over white rice in the fridge.

I then have rice for whenever I want, lunch, dinner. etc. I can also put some of my rice in a bowl for breakfast, add a little cinnamon and sugar, then milk, and it's a great treat. Enjoy!

Hi, Bogan Barbie:

I am a Chinese, so I have an advantage in rice cooking. I have some Chinese recipes videos on youtube, one of these called: Chinese Fried Rice, I showed the method to cook the perfect rice in a sauce pan. And I also have a video called: The Introduction of Chinese Fried Rice Video Series, in that video I suggested to buy a rice cooker which does the perfect job for rice cooking. If you would like to watch, go to the links below.

When I make rice the water bubbles a bit but then subdues, I m not sure why but my rice normally comes out fluffy and not sticky o I hope you have the same success

This is how I make rice - I think its called absorption method or something similar

for every cup of rice add 2 cups of boiling water put the lid on the pan and leave on hob- low simmer setting for around 15 minutes (it helps if you have a clear lid but no worries if not. Check on it using a fork. The best thing about this method is that there is no water to drain away and the rice is fluffy and cooked when the water is all absorbed

:) Good luck

A simple way to cook rice is to boil it. Make sure you check it every 5 min. so not to be overdone. Once done to texture, rinse in cold water and be sure what ever sauce your putting on it is hot. Another rule of thumb is always be sure to make your water to rice ratio 2 to 1. Say 1 cup rice to 2 cups water. When you boil be sure to stir right away when you add to boiling water. Stir frequently through out process. If you would like to know how to steam rice contact me.
