How safe is food irradiation?!
Answers:
It's very safe. You've probably already eaten something that has been irradiated already.
Food irradiation does not use ionizing radiation - that is the kind that would turn the food radioactive if they did...but they don't use that type.
The type of radiation they use will kill off pathogens (bacteria, viruses) and parasites only during the time it is exposed to the radiation source, it does not make the food radioactive at all.
You have to realize there are many different forms of radiation - and it isn't all bad. Light is a form of radiation, as is heat that you feel from your stove or oven, and so are radio waves.
Some foods are deliberately irradiated - first sealed in plastic, then irradiated to kill any germs. Food lasts lot longer that way. What is not good is radioactive dirt and dust (smoke particles) which could land on your food. Vegetables, fruits, and animals which are outside, I'd stay away from. Mushrooms, should be safe because they're raised inside.
The same goes for you. If the radioactive cloud went in your direction, stay indoors as much as you can. In a few days the radioactivity will be reduced.
"You" are constantly irradiated - Daily - - the sun - - the universe - - the earth itself
just ask a pot grower about his grow lamps - Ultraviolet light - - that is what most food production firms use - harmless grow lamps - - they might also use low level M/W's
Fear - - what you don't understand - -you will PAY more thinking your safe
Good Luck - - on your education - - organic dung (my pet peeve)
2/3 of humans on this earth are illiterate and have little knowledge outside their community or religion

Well, for example, right now people in Japan are fleeing from getting irradiated by their runaway nuclear reactors, so, do you really want your FOOD to be irradiated? I don't think so.
Good luck!... :-D
try to consult a doctor. irradiation are off diff types.
dangerously unsafe...even life taking !
