Americans...zombies who believe everything they're told???!

Question:

Americans...zombies who believe everything they're told???

As an American teenager, I feel like no one cares about what's going on in the world or what the government is doing (or not doing, for that matter). Ugh, zombies everywhere who'd rather spend all day on myspace than question, RESEARCH, and challenge the state of things... I think we need another revolution, a la 1960s youth counterculture. Anyone agree?

I completely agree with you. I am 18 years old and going to Michigan State next year. I have paid attention to politics and conspiracy theories for a long time now and do all of my own research on the internet. I was the first person Ive ever heard of that saw Loose Change and that was a long time ago. I let all of my friends borrow it and tried to convince them it was true. Our government is very corrupt. I feel like I am one of the only people my age that actually cares about what our government does and how they abuse their power or what goes on throughout the world. Our generation is too obsessed with sex, drugs, and alcohol to pay attention to their lives and things that matter. Its kind of sad, in a way. I have done all three of these things and they are not even close to being good enough to base my life around them, which is what most kids my age do in today's world. I'm glad to see there are others out there like me who care about our world and the impact we can have on it.

Yep, sure do. It's a credit to you, though, as a teenager, that you've managed to differentiate between reality & spin. You should go in to politics, girl:)
Not sure, though, why this is posted in food & drink?

Smart. It's always nice to see a young person who refuses to blindly accept corporate propaganda as truth.

Here's a good place for some real information

Citizenship is so much more than consumerism, bible thumping and flag waving. Our founding fathers would be embarrassed by what passes for patriotism today

I totally agree. The biggest problem with American teens today is that they're completely lazy and zoned out on other crap, (like MTV., drinking and partying) that they don't care!

When things don't go their way, they piss and moan, make a lot of noise, but they're primarily, "all talk & no action" kinda people. They're more worried about where their next "buzz" is going to come from or what Paris Hilton is gonna do when she gets out of jail, or who left them a picture comment on myspace rather than what goes on with our country/government. I find most of the people my age have the same similar response "I'll worry about that when I'm older."

Personally, I'm actually quite scared of what America's future is going to be like, if left up to these people! Every kid I look at that comes out of highschool is NO WHERE near what they should be like, to be equipped to go out into this world and make something of themselves and help America keep running for future generations.

Some sort of shock to that generation might be exactly what they need to wake them up from their internet-crazed haze and make them realize that the time for action is NOW!

I agree, but it's always been that way, the masses are usually content and blissfully ignorant--they don't WANT to know, it will upset them,
the rest of us take the world upon our shoulders.

Good for you !
You seem to be aware far beyond your years. I was aware at an early age as well. I was 9 when JFK was murdered. I knew that a 'cover-up' had happened, but we didn't have the inter-net to get and share information like we do today. Don't ever stop learning...it's a big world that's always changing !
Have a look at this site...it'll give ya nightmares ! No graphic pics,..just a reporter telling the truth about the Bush Dynasty !

It's one of the more interesting side effects of the abolishment of the draft: Apathetic youth
Were the draft to be reinstituted today the apathy of youth would disappear overnight.
When the actions of your government directly effect your @ss- and possibly in a very negative way -apathy is no longer a viable option.

i feel for you, and agree. BUT the country is doomed anyway, so it will all be over before we could do anything ......our president will be the cause of the next world war!!!!

Why do "politically aware" people always have a left leaning slant? I can't stand it!

Oh, and a corporation made the computer you posted with.

Oh, and Yahoo is a corporation...

Why all this anti-corporation rants? Are you a socialist?
