Is saltpeter,(mentioned for use in cornbeef and other foods as a color preservative) used...?!

Question: Is saltpeter,(mentioned for use in cornbeef and other foods as a color preservative) used...?
...to subdue the libido?
Is saltpeter purposely used to diminish sexual appetite? If so how potent and effective is it? Is it's use in food preservation of sufficient quantities to affect undesirable sexual restraints?

Answers:

it is not true. it is one of those myths.

People used to believe that saltpeter had that affect, however it's since been shown to not be true. Even then the amount of saltpeter that you would ingest from corned beef or other foodstuff is very very small.

Apparently, the "more advanced" Moslems merely whacked the offending appendages off.
