Cocktail wiennies recipe?!

Question:

Cocktail wiennies recipe?

Im wondering how most people cook, prepare, and serve mini hot dogs at events. What type of events do you suggest serving them at? and are Vienna suasages appropriate.

Answers:
We use the little smokies in BBQ sauce with fancy toothpicks for buffet type parties. Also wrapped in a stip of puff pastry for finger food.
Vienna sausages....hmmm......what does one do with a Vienna sausage? When my kids were toddlers, they loved them, and believe it or not, every once in a while, I want some, too. ICKY, YUCK, Gross, but I sneak them when I think no one is looking, lol. (straight out of the can).

Are you talking about little smokies in BBQ sauce??? Those are easy breezy and no do not use Vienna Sausages. Buy the Little Smokies sausages, put in crock pot, add your favorite BBQ sauce and heat through. We serve them anytime there's a crowd. Easy, breezy and everyone loves them.

No to Vienna Sausage...In the dairy section you can get cocktail wienies. I cook them a couple of ways...take the package of wienies and place them with 1 package or can of sauerkraut, into a foil pan and cover with foil. You can cook these in the oven or on the grill about 1/2 an hour turn/stir periodically. serve with nice Italian or French bread mustard and a sharp cheddar.
another way it to wrap them with pie crust or crescent roll dough and bake in the oven until pastry is golden brown...
both are yummy....

These are always good for an appetizer at any event

Sweet and Sour Lil Smokies

INGREDIENTS:
2 20-ounce cans pineapple chunks, drained, reserve the juice
1 large package little smokies
2 green peppers, chopped
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp garlic powder
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
splash of white wine

PREPARATION:
Add the pineapple chunks and smokies to your slow cooker.
In a saucepan, combine remaining ingredients with the reserved pineapple juice.

Simmer until the peppers are tender. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons cornstarch to thicken.

Pour this over the pineapples and sausages. Cook on hot for an hour, then low for a couple hours, however long you want to wait to eat it. You just want to heat it all up, really.

Little smokies or cocktail weinies, wrap with bacon, secure with toothpick. Back in oven at 350 until bacon is cooked. Can be served plain or with BBQ sauce.

COCKTAIL WEINERS AND SAUCE

Ingredients
**************
12 oz bottle chili sauce
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. ketchup
Dash of pepper
Large package of cocktail weiners

Procedure
*************
Combine first four ingredients in portions until desired taste is reached. Pour into fondue pot or crock pot. Add weiners. Let simmer for 8 minutes.
COCKTAIL WIENERS
**************************
1 lb. cocktail wieners
1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce
1 (8 oz.) jar grape jelly

In pot, combine jelly and chili sauce. Bring to a boil; stir. Drop in wieners and reduce heat. Ready to serve in 15 minutes. Serve in chafing dish.

Another good slow cooker suggestion:
cocktail wieners
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 small jar catalina salad dressing

Mix the three together in the slow cooker. Serve when heated.

This recipie is also good on chicken. Strangely, I hate cranberry sauce AND catalina dressing, but together they're incredible.

Hi, here are two easy and delicious ways to serve cocktail weiners (don't use Vienna; buy the "lil smokies" as other people have said).

Buy a tube of crescent roll dough. Cut in small strips and wrap around the weiners. Bake at the temp. on the crescent roll package, but for less time; just until the dough is golden. These are little instant "pigs in blankets" and are tasty and fun.

The second possibility is to buy a jar of mango chutney (usually in the foreign food aisle in the market). Place 2 packages of weiners in a bowl and pour the whole jar over them; stir to coat. Place them on a cookie sheet at heat at 350 for 10 or 15 min., until hot. Serve with toothpicks. Very spicy and fun.

Good luck!

Use the cocktail weines. Place in crockpot

Use any type of bar-b-que sauce (1-2bottles), whichever flavor you like better, and one beer.

Let simmer in crockpot for 1-2 hours on medium. MMMM Good!
