How much should I charge for 50 homemade cupcakes?!

Question:

How much should I charge for 50 homemade cupcakes?

Hello there! Around my job, I am known as the cupcake girl because I am constantly making new cupcakes. One of my co-workers asked me to make 50 cupcakes for his son's birthday party. There will be two different recipes involved, so 25 of each. Also, I will have to drive 40 miles to deliver them. Any thoughts on how much I should charge? I was thinking $1 a cupcake. Is this too low?

Just an added note: My co-worker is asking me how much it will be. He IS aware that there will be a charge. I really want to do this, as I enjoy making the cupcakes, I may as well make a little extra money doing it. Thanks for all the answers!

$1 a cupcake is fine, but charge a delivery or fuel surcharge in addition, something like $25, just to cover your gas :)

50p for a cupcake

I actually think that you should charge $60.00 or $70.00 first you had to get all the stuff to make them. Second you are having to drive and gas is expensive. Hope i Helped...

I think that's too low. I would probably do $1.50 - $2.00 each plus something for delivery. 40 miles is a long way, especially round trip.

$60 bucks for pick up.
$80 for delivery.

that's about right-
don't forget labor.

$80

I would charge 80 cents each, plus 50 cents per mile you have to drive to deliver them.

So for 50 cupcakes, $40 plus $20 for delivery.

Make sure you tell him the cost before you agree to do it. He may decide that $60 is too much for homemade cupcakes and go get them at a local bakery for less.

Did your co-worker agree to pay you? or does he think this is "just a thing you do"?.
If he agrees to a charge, double the amount of the cost of your ingredients, add $25.00 for your labor (or more), and let him pick them up. If he wants delivery, an extra $50.00. Gas isn't cheap these days.

He'd be better off going to the local grocery store or bakery. Betcha he thinks you'll do this for free or next to free. A commercial baker makes money buying in bulk, baking in bulk, and usually they don't deliver. Home baking is always better, but without the benefit of commercial buying power, it becomes expensive.

Do you REALLY want to do this?

I think that you should charge a dollar for each cupcake and a dollar for each mile you drive!!!!!!!!!!!

well if 50cents a cupcake makes $25 and add $5 for time and services.
so charge $30
K

I agree with you, plus a charge for travel time.

If you've got to drive in your car spending yoru $3/gallon gasoline to deliver them 40 miles, I'd get no less than $1 a piece.

$80

I think you should add the cost of the ingrediants plus $1 per cupcake so you make more profit. I also think that with the high gas prices you should charge some for delivery.

i would charge 60-80 dollars depending on how much gas is there because if he was picking them up i would charge 50 dollars but you should charge a delivery fee
