Who would work in Hell's Kitchen?!

Question:

Who would work in Hell's Kitchen?

For anyone out there who is a chef or aspiring chef, has anyone worked with someone as intense and abusive as Gordon Ramsay of Hell's Kitchen? If so, how long can one endure that?

Answers:
I have been a chef for almost 20 years and I honestly don't think he's that different from a lot of the people I've worked for/with. In fact, I have had people call me both of those things before(intense, abusive).Think about it- you are the owner of a Michelin starred restaurant, your reputation is on the line with EVERY plate that goes out. Wouldn't it *iss you off if people are trying to send out cold/spoiled food? Personally I would have canned the lot of them the first dinner service if they worked for me. I have never seen such a group of backstabbing, unprofessional, whiny, little **tches and **stards! With the exception of the girl whose name I think is "Julia" who actually seems to have a clue as to how to work.
None of them seems to know how to works as a team and take responsibility for their mistakes.
Working in a commercial fine dining restaurant is hard work. Its hot, the hours are long, and yes, sometimes your boss is a jerk. But it can be a very rewarding career choice- both creatively and financially, if you have the work ethic.
Hope I've encouraged you and not scared you off....

i wud cryyyyyyyyyyy my eyes outtttttttt

I couldn't. I would slap the hell out of someone who treated me like that. I think its un -called for

I love that show but you couldn't pay me enough to put up with that.........I fell so bad for some of those people but I still watch it. It is very entertaining!!!!!!!!!

I love any cooking shows

Only a masochist would want that. I have read that all chefs treat their staff like dog mess, at least in Europe. I don't get it. I would not want to work for someone without self-control.

Is that show on again???

I definitely wouldn't. If he got off on my @ss and embarrassed me on national television, I'd f*cking shoot him.

I havent worked for someone like him, but I wouldnt have a problem doing so because I know how to cook.
It amazes me that people have such a problem making the simplest things on his show!
Cannot fry an egg? Cant make sure that the scallops you are serving are cooked and not still raw in the middle? Cant make sure the food you are serving is not cold? Cant not burn something? They deserve to be yelled at!

I'd beat heads in. No way would I tolerate someone treating me like that. He'd never have to search for his meat mallet cause he'd know right where it was, he'd feel it with every step he took. That dude is an azzhole.

My husband is a professional chef and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He has expereinced chefs like Gordon Ramsay.

You need to remember something about Chef Ramsay - he is only looking for someone who can handle what he dishes out. The reason is simple - if a chef can work under the conditions Chef Ramsay presents contestants with, then that chef will be able to handle the pressure of running a million dollar restaurant.

Being a chef in a restaurant is statistically stressful as being a surgeon, emergency responder, or police officer. The job of a chef is a very difficult job to perform - especially to perform well. In addition, a chef has the responsibility that the other top stress occupations do no - a chef is actually providing something that you are going to willingly put into your body.

My husband thrives on this kind of stress, but it takes its toll - believe me. We owned a restaurant for two years - a simple breakfast and lunch cafe. Compared to some of our cutomers, Chef Ramsay would have been a teddy bear. As awful as someone outside the industry thinks Chef Ramsay is, he is not nearly as terrible as a pissed off customer or arrogant newspaper critic.

I would love to be a contestant. I may not survive it, but I would give it a shot. As a professional baker with lots of restaurant expereince (working with my husband - another story for another day), I would welcome the challenge.

Chef Ramsay is working to see who he is going to give the resposibility of a restaurant to - and it has to be someone who can handle the abuse he or she will be submitted to when customers and critics get there.

Just my two cents.....

has any one tried to kill him, yet with a frying pan or a butcher knife Chucky style

No way...I would pee my pants when he starts yelling at me...I think it's good training for any aspiring chef - if they can get through a night with him, everything else will be a "piece 'o cake"!

In my personal opinion chef Ramsey is no better or worse than most of the other chefs of his caliber. My Sous Chef at work put it pretty well; the producers of the show found him a bunch of retards and it's his job to try and find 1 of them who has the 'nads to run a million dollar restaurant.

I cpuldnt take hi! The very first time he got in my face and cursed at me i would cryyy my eyes out!
