So what the consensus is This is all people just trying to label themselves. They like the Idea of vegetarianism. So you make up a term that fits you as opposed to fitting the actual term.

Those websites were made for people who desperately need to label themselves...
The only one that isn't completely wrong is the last one...

If you were a vegetarian, you would understand how frustrating it is to be told... day after day... something untrue about YOUR lifestyle by people who have NO idea what they are talking about.
Not one of those sites looks to me to be a credible source...
You want a credible source for the definition of a vegetarian?

wow, never knew that..I guess I am the Pollo-vegetarian..

How many vegetarians are there in the world? Thats your answer.

I think I am the semi-vegetarian. I still like the title socially aware omnivore better. It just feels more applicable to my situation.

i agree with the lacto-ovo vegetarianism, although one can automatically assume that vegetarians don't eat meat but can still eat their eggs, dairy, and other by-products. that's a no-brainer.

what i can't stand is when they completely distort the meaning of vegetarianism. what is a vegetarian? A VEGETARIAN IS SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT EAT ANIMAL FLESH. fish and chicken fall into the category of "animal". why is that so difficult to understand?

there is no such thing as a pollo-vegetarian or a pesco-vegetarian. if you eat either of those, you are NOT a vegetarian. there is no special name you get because you eat one animal and exclude the other. simple as that.

here, Lacto-Vegetarian it's has been one of the best choice that i have done in my life.

Lacto Ovo Vegetarian
A lacto ovo vegetarian does not eat meat, fish or poultry, but eats eggs and milk. They eat eggs and products made with eggs in them, yogurt, cheese, milk and ice creams.

Lacto Vegetarian
A lacto vegetarian does not eat meat, fish, poultry or eggs, but includes dairy products in their diet. They will eat milk, ice cream (that does not include eggs), yogurt and cheese. They would avoid ice creams, baked goods, pancakes and veggie burgers that contain eggs.

Vegan
A vegan does not eat any fish, meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products or foods that contain any of these products. They also do not use any non-food items that contain products from animals, including wool from sheep, leather and silk. Vegans often do not eat honey, because bees may be killed while harvesting it.

Lacto ovo vegetarian

Just the three kinds
White meat vegitarians
Dark Meat vegitarian and
Red meat vegitarians

Websites ??????

Since when have unmoderated websites been the fountain of all definitions ?

I didn't look at them, the dictionary ( you know - the paper think thats written and moderated by scholars in a controlled and internationally accepted manner ) has more than enough words on the subject.

The internet has done so much to cause confusion for vegetarians.

By the way, there are plenty of websites that say Elvis is alive and driving a bus on the moon, do we all accept this as being truthful ??

....well, i guess some do.

A vegetarian does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products.

Anything else is just recent corruption of the word. Forget the pollo/semi/demi/part-time/week... (etc) labels, its all nonsense.

Eat what you like, but don't corrupt the language just because you want a label, or find it too difficult to say "I'm a meateater that just eats fish".

It has nothing to do with personal beliefs as far as the "types" there are. There is fact and then there is misinformation. Just because you read something, does not make it true. There is no such thing as a demi or semi vegetarian and no such thing as a pollo or pesco vegetarian. The so called authors of those websites that mention those simply are uninformed.

A person cannot be a vegetarian and eat animal flesh..period.

I think the Encyclopedia Britannica holds a bit more ground then the links you provided that were written by students most likely. Check this link:
http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-907...

What it comes down to is that the fact that vegetarians eat no animals, the false types that are suggested in some of your links, are pretty much blown out of the water and don't hold any ground whatsoever.

I suggest finding sources that are credible in the future.
