Answers:
wel come to the world of vegetarians because of you more than 100 animals will save their live do following are the list of vitamints and protins for you.
Proteins: Body's protein needs can be provided by either animal or plant sources. Mixed protein diet obtained from various plant sources is better than animal protein and is recommended in diabetes, renal diseases and liver diseases. Mixed protein diet from different plant sources has been the pattern of diet in India for all vegetarians.

Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are mainly found in plant foods; like cereals, grains, fresh and dry fruits, legumes, vegetable, greens, nuts etc. plant carbohydrates include' large amounts of starches, sugar and fibers which are important for gut functions. The body is better suited to a high carbohydrate diet than a low carbohydrate diet. In fact 55% of the food intake should be carbohydrate. All animal products do not contain carbohydrate which is essential for body.

Fat: Plant fats differ from animal fats in two different ways 1) they are cholesterol free 2) they generally contain more polyunsaturated fat and less saturated fats. Plant fats usually have higher polyunsaturated fat value than animal fats.

A diet which is low in cholesterol and which contains fat of a high PIS value is associated with a lower incident of coronary health disease.

Vitamins and Minerals: plant foods are rich in many vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is obtained by exposure of skin to sun light and this is not a problem in India.

Calcium: The vegetarians can meet their needs for calcium from dairy products. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Dark green vegetables are good sources of Riboflavin as are legumes and whole grain cereal.

Iron: The problem of iron deficiency is relatively common but vitamin C significantly enhances absorption of iron hence it is advisable for vegetarians to include with each meal a food high in vitamin C which as lime, citrus fruits or juices.

Zinc: Zinc is found in large number of plant foods.

Fiber: Fiber is found only in vegetarian food like whole grain cereals, legumes, greens, fruits, vegetable etc.

Thus in vegetarian foods all requirement of nutrition for body growth and maintenance is fulfilled. One can have a complete and balanced diet provided we take enough food which is as close to nature as possible in maintaining sturdy and disease free body. It is equally helpful in curing many diseases.

ADVANTAGES OF VEGETARIAN DIET:
More & more evidence is surfacing that directly links a prolonged non- vegetarian diet to diseases as cancers, heart diseases, diabetes, asthma just to name a few.

1. LOGEVITY: Vegetarian can expect to live 4-10 years longer then the non-vegetarians.

" Source: Seventh day Adventists study

2. LESS HEART DISEASE: Because of low fat, saturated fat and cholesterol content of the vegetarian diet the risk of heart disease is lowered. High blood cholesterol levels are associated with increased risk of heart disease.

3. LESS CANCER: Up to 40% of all cancers are diet related. Cancer death rates have been associated with obesity and high fat / low fiber diet. Vitamin A & C are thought to be protective against colon cancer. Low fat diets protect against prostrate and breast cancer. Indoles, lignans, isoflavones, protease inhibitors which are present in plant foods and shown to be potent anti carcinogens.

4. LESS BOWEL DISEASE: Diverticular disease and appendicitis occur more frequently with low fiber intake as in meat diet.

5. LEES OBESITY & LESS INCIDENCE OF DIABETES: It is easier to plan a low fat diet for a vegetarian then for a meat eater. The fiber in plant food dilutes the energy & provides a satisfying meal without all the calories. Diabetes over the age of 40 seems to be related to obesity.

the same thing happen to me! i got on that web site and watch those videos and now i don't ever want to eat meat again. (i do eat tuna) i would say...keep watching those videos. and just eat more veggies and fruits, and whole grains, then after a few weeks once you do eat meat, your stomach will hurt really bad ... mine did.
but since your not going to be eating meat... you still need the protein, so make sure you get some protein mix and drink it daily.
vegetarians that don't get enough proteins are the ones that end up looking sickly.

oh and try the veggie wraps from subway, they are really yummy, and veggie burgers.

half the time meat only taste good cause all the flavors you put into it, or on it.

if u want to be a vegetarian, you must not look at meat.

first thing tell your dr about your choice he might be able to give you some ideas , you can also pick up some cook books and start to make your meals there is lots out there .

vegetarianism: eliminating meat and fish
veganism: eliminating everything with animal ingredients/products.

what do you mean "how can i train myself to resist tasty meat and eat lettuce everyday?!?" would you rather eat a carcass?

If you truly want to make a difference and do a good change for your body and your health then your mind should be set on achieving the goal of eliminating animal ingredients. it's not some trend to follow, you have to do it for the right reasons.

there are plenty of food that vegetarians and vegans eat and it's not just vegetables. do some research.

watch the "Faces of Death" video series. That'll put you off meat for a while! If you have a taste for meats and stuff like hamburgers you are not a vegetarian. A cat cannot be a dog. A fish cannot live out of water.

Becoming vegetarian doesn't have to put you into the mindset of "giving up" anything unless you choose to look at it that way. :o)

Instead you can look at all of the foods and dishes that you will now be adding to your diet. Take a look at some vegetarian cookbooks and websites to find out some of the fabulous foods and dishes that you can have. After all, you can't live on lettuce alone! ;oD

There are some awesome cookbooks out there (I've picked up a lot at the big used bookstore chain.) and Vegetarian Times is a great magazine. I've also listed some websites that I have bookmarked.

Just think of all of the fabulous salads, delicious wraps and sandwiches, delectables from the grill, scrumptious soups and stews, mouthwatering main and side dishes, and heavenly desserts and beverages there are just waiting for you to discover them! :o) Yum!

You don't have to eat lettuce everyday! lol. Go to a healthfood store and get fake meat. Boca Burgers are really really good and they taste just like meat! They also have ribs, chicken nuggets, and all the other "meat eater choice foods". Fake meat is really good. Go to vegcooking.com, they have awesome vegetarian AND vegan recipes! You'll love vegetarianism! Theres so much good food out there! And dont forget, if you're vegetarian, you can't eat fish either. I would highly recommend the Veggie Sub from Quizno's. Its DEEELISH!!!

Why do you want to become a vegetarian? The bible is clear that everything that man has been given by God to eat is good. But he also advices what you should not eat. Split hooved animal, bottom feeders(lobster, crab etc) etc.
Are you really doing this because of the videos or is it because it is a fad and your friends are doing it.
If the answer is the last two then you won't be able to do it.

Just because you are turning into a vegetarian doesn't mean you have to eat lettuce everyday. There are tons and tons of meatless foods out there that taste great and are very good for you. Just today my boyfriend and I had spicy veggie chicken patties for dinner. They were really good. There are so many choices for you to chose from when you become a vegetarian. What you would probably want to do is slowly wean yourself off of meat, only because going off of it all at once can make you really sick. Check out Peta for some yummy recipes you can try.

You need to learn how to COOK. If you become skilled at cooking, anything will taste great.

Try reading Annie Sommerville's Field of Greens. It has great recipes. Buy a cookbook at your local farmer's market. Chez Panisse cookbooks are also great, and so is the new book called Vegetables by the Culinary Institute of America.

just remember how they got to be on the grill and what they went through, you will never look back! heres a great site i found i hope it helps!

Its really not that hard, theirs sooo much good food without meat.

Try helens kitchen products or something. Your saving lives! Keep reminding yourself that.

actually, i wanted to turn vegan. but i hated how the animals were slaughtered using a machine. i prefer chicken which are slaughtered by the knife, fast. but rarely eat chicken.

eat more fish! salmon, tuna, red herring, dori fish etc

and seafood too. oysters, clamps, squids, scallops

and of cos vege too.

soon as you make the decision for real you wont need to train yourself. The thought of eating meat will soon turn your stomach

I don't think anyone can be trained to be vegetarian. I am vegan and eat whatever I want. I am still vegan because I don't WANT to eat meat.
